Experience

Future Perfect Fellow, Vox, New York, NY
June 2025 - Present

  • Report and write about the hidden and often dystopic ways that power, wealth, and technology shape our everyday lives for Vox’s Future Perfect, a section about global poverty, philanthropy, public health, and artificial intelligence.

  • Produce quick-turn explainers, service journalism, and day-of analyses in response to breaking news. My piece on how to help the resistance to ICE in Minnesota went viral, with President Barack Obama sharing it on social media, accompanied by a surge in readership, conversions, and donations to the organizations mentioned.

  • Wrote a 3,800-word feature on why every crisis on GoFundMe needs your $20, which received media attention, including an on-camera appearance on CNN’s The Assignment with Audie Cornish. It also led to thousands of dollars in reader donations to a GoFundMe featured in the story, which subsequently reached its fundraising goal.

  • Execute conversational, zeitgeisty blurbs and behind-the-story entries for bi-weekly Future Perfect newsletter, which has 97,000+ subscribers. Record vertical video explainers for TikTok and Instagram with 17,000+ views.

  • Ideate and produce profiles for Future Perfect 25, a list of thinkers, activists, and scholars working on solutions for major global problems, and wrote accompanying tentpole piece, a 3,700-word feature on how to deliver a baby with no supplies in the wake of foreign aid cuts. Collaborate with team on other special packages including a guide to Giving Tuesday, for which I wrote a 3,100-word feature on MacKenzie Scott’s vibes-based approach to giving.

Staff Reporter, The Chronicle of Philanthropy, New York, NY
Sept. 2022 - June 2025

  • Reported on philanthropy’s hidden impact on society, breaking news in the nonprofit world, and the growing influence of technology on social services for the nation’s largest philanthropy news site and magazine, with stories — like this one on a Girl Scout troop for children seeking asylum — regularly syndicated by the Associated Press.

  • Built an interactive database and visualization tracking a surge of nonprofit layoffs in the wake of federal funding cuts, with data culled from state databases, local news clippings, and a reader callout for tips. As the first of its kind to document such data in real time, it was cited in Congressional testimony, received significant reader response, and led to a live media appearance on a top philanthropy webseries.

  • Co-chaired a conference on philanthropy, artificial intelligence, and the law at the University of California at Los Angeles, recruiting speakers and moderating panels before an audience of 150+ professionals. Regularly hosted live webinars and virtual panels attended by 1,200+ subscribers.
